What is the Best Time of Year to Get Your Windows Cleaned?

Featured Projects

Window cleaning is important and can help enhance the beauty of the home or business. There are several different factors that determine the best time to clean the windows, such as climate, weather restrictions, and the day of the week. The windows should be washed when there are no restrictions hindering you from doing the job. The best time to clean the windows is when they are dirty but, in order to get the best bang for your buck and make sure your windows stay cleaner longer, there are some things to keep in mind.

Window Cleaning in the Spring

One of the best times for window cleaning and when window cleaners are the busiest is during the spring This is even more important if you have neglected the windows over the winter period. Over time, the windows build up layers of grime, dust, dirt, and pollution caused by weather changes and rainfall. If you have a road or highways close to your home, then it can be even worse.

If you are worried about cleaning your windows when it could rain, know that if the windows are thoroughly cleaned, they can’t get dirty when it rains. If a window is already dirty the rain makes it look dirtier. What makes the window dirty is the actual dirt itself and not the rain. Rainwater can extend the time between cleanings. It helps to lower the dirt and pollen levels that are drifting around the window. If left alone, over time the grime and dirt that accumulate leads to spotting or streaking on the windows.

If you clean your windows during a different time of year then any attempts to clean the windows during heavy rainfall or cold weather can be met with a fresh layer of grime, dirt, and pollution. Cleaning the windows in the spring can allow you to get rid of the grime from any winter storms and the debris from any fall leaves.

Window Cleaning in Other Seasons

Just because spring is the best time to clean windows doesn’t mean that window cleaning shouldn’t be done at other times of the year if it is the most convenient for you.

Summer can be a convenient time to get your windows cleaned since window cleaning companies, such as Squeegee Squad, tend to slow down from the spring runs. There is also less chance of rain right after having your windows cleaned than there is in the springtime. If you have windows that need to be disassembled and cleaned in between the panes then summer can be a good time to get those windows cleaned. It can be more challenging to clean windows in the direct sunlight in the summertime but it’s not impossible. Fall can be a good time to clean windows since it may not be as rainy. Winter is usually the least popular time and cleaning is usually only done when homeowners are preparing their home for sale or commercial clients are getting monthly cleaning done.

When to Avoid Having Your Windows Cleaned

Since window cleaning can be done just about any time then the only time you should avoid having your windows cleaned is when there is a big storm with wind and rain.

How Often Should You Clean Your Windows?

The answer to this isn’t as simple as you think. How often you should clean the windows depends on usage conditions, unpredictable weather, and personal preferences. It also depends on if you are cleaning residential or commercial windows.

If you have a business, then it’s recommended that your windows be cleaned once per month. Keeping the business exterior looking great is important if you want to attract more clients and customers. Homeowners can get away with having windows cleaned just once a year. Local weather conditions determine how often you need your windows cleaned. If you live near the sea then salt deposits can corrode the panes so monthly cleaning is recommended. Personal preference is also a factor. Some homes have beautiful views and homeowners want to take them in as much as possible. Others want to keep their morale up by allowing full sunlight into rooms. If you want to get more out of your windows then you need more frequent cleaning.
