Window Cleaning FAQ

Window Cleaning FAQ

1.  Do you clean in the rain?

Yes, we clean windows in the rain.  It is very likely that your windows have a layer of filth built upon them since they were last cleaned.  A little rain won’t hurt the desired results when we clean the windows, they will still turn out great.  If you prefer, we can always reschedule for a sunny day.  You’re the boss!  We do not clean glass if wind conditions are unsafe or there is lightening.  Safety first!

2.  How are your workers screened?  What is the process?

We run all of our window cleaners through a third party criminal screening process.  The name of the company is Ask The Seal (theseal.com).  You can go to this site and verify right now for yourself.  The company screens specifically for theft, sexual convictions, and assault.  All of our workers MUST pass these requirements in order to work for us.  Our primary goal is to protect our customers.

3.  How do you reach my tall windows?

We use ladders to get up high in order to get in front of the glass and hand clean your windows.  We do NOT spray chemicals from the ground or use long poles (unless the glass is not safely accessible by ladder) to reach your windows.  Inferior methods produce poor results.  We are in the business of producing premium results by cleaning glass the right way.  Our ladders all have rubber nubs to protect your siding which rests gently against your house.

4.  Do you clean windows in the snow?

Many people don’t realize it but we clean windows year round and yes, even in the snow.   The weather conditions will not affect the quality of your glass when we clean it.  We have measures we take to stay safe and still produce optimal cleaning results.

5.  Is screen cleaning included in your window cleaning service, if so what is the process?

We have three different screen cleaning methods.  Our basic method includes cleaning screens using a damp cloth wipe down both sides of each screen.   This is offered when you choose to have our "in and out" window cleaning service or "outside only" window cleaning. When your home has screens on the outside of the home already, we do offer a sponge down screen cleaning method (better option) or a spray down screen cleaning method (best) at an additional charge.

6.  What is your 100% satisfaction guarantee?

It’s simple.  We stand behind our workmanship.  If you see a mistake in our cleaning we will happily come back and fix it for free.  We strive to maintain the highest quality service at the best possible price.  Your satisfaction is our number one goal.

7.  What tools and equipment do you use to clean my windows?

We clean your glass the old fashion way using a sponge and squeegee and scratch free scotch bright pad.  This allows our workers to remove the most amount of dirt and grime while leaving your windows streak free.  Using paper towels, vinegar, poles, Windex and other chemicals, etc prove time and time again to be inferior.  If your home is newly constructed we may use other window cleaning methods in order to remove certain debris which may not come free with a standard “sponge and squeegee” cleaning.

8.  Is there any risk of scratching my glass?

This depends.  We have two methods of cleaning your glass.  Any home or commercial building just looking for ROUTINE GLASS CLEANING will be cleaned using our standard NON-SCRATCHING tools as mentioned above (sponge, squeegee, and scratch free scotch brite pad).  Glass cannot be scratched using these tools.  While this method is the safest scratch-free way to clean your windows, it can, in some situations, have quality limitations if the glass has not been regularly cleaned or maintained.

In instances where we need to provide new construction window cleaning, we will use other tools ONLY UPON WRITTEN CONSENT OF OUR CUSTOMERS after our clients have read our discloser.  These tools are to provide NON_ROUTINE GLASS CLEANING.  Non-routine glass cleaning methods are used to remove: hard water, artillery fungus spores, sap, tar, paint, adhesives, varnish, mortar, silicone and more.  The tools used to remove these elements may include razor blades, super fine steel wool, acid, or other chemicals.  If scratched glass occurs during our NON-ROUTINE WINDOW CLEANING, it almost certainly means the glass has been poorly manufactured and that the glass has surface defects embedded onto the window surface, known as fabrication debris, which then becomes dislodged when our razor blade or other tools slide across the window.  This occurs only on tempered or heat-strengthened glass.   Squeegee Squad does not take responsibility for any scratched glass.  To learn more about scratched glass, please visit the iwca.org (International Window Cleaners Association).  Here you will discover a vast explanation of scratched glass.

9.    How long will it take to provide my window cleaning service?

This really depends on how dirty your windows are and the layout of your home.  Ramblers, for example, typically can be cleaned quicker than a two or three story home as we do not need to climb up and down ladders as frequently.  Homes that haven’t been cleaned in a long time also take more time to clean as we need to really scrub a lot of dirt and grime off the glass surface.  A general rule of thumb is that we can typically clean about $100-$125 per hour.  Again, this can vary depending on other factors.

10.  How long will it take to provide my gutter cleaning service?

Some gutters are horrifically clogged while others are not so bad.  Usually, our team can clean between $100-$125 worth of work per hour.

11.  How long will it take to provide my pressure washing service?

We are methodical when it comes to pressure washing your home.  It can be tedious work and take time to properly clean up the siding on your home but again, the general rule of thumb would be $100-$125 per hour depending on the condition of the siding.

12.  Will I need to be home for the service?

If you are having your windows cleaned inside and outside then yes, we will need to gain access to your home.  If you are only having the exterior of your window cleaning or receiving gutter cleaning or pressure washing services, then no you do not need to be home UNLESS, you have screens on the exterior of your windows, and we are providing window washing.  In this scenario, we will need to get inside your home in order to remove those screens to access the outside glass.
